Airing Kensington's Dirty Laundry

I mean....not to sound like a wet blanket, or whatever...but I'm STILL SICK! I've had a fever for like 3 days now.  And to me having a fever means you're REALLY sick.  Like people should really take this seriously and feel VERY sorry for me.  A cold is one thing, but a fever is a whole other level.

ANYWAY, as you can see I have done next to NOTHING the last three days, because I've had a fever, so I really don't have much NEWS or anything exciting to tell you.  Yesterday evening, however, I did manage to leave the flat for a bit, as Mr. LaPoo and I went to check out a house for sale in Kensington.  It was on the cutest little cul de sac off of Kensington High Street and a very charming house. (Charming is real estate speak for not as big as you would expect).  It actually was a nice size, but not for us and slightly over budget, especially for the amount of work that needed to be done to it.  I always think it's funny walking around other people's homes though.  Like, if it were me, for example, having people around, I might put my wet laundry somewhere private, or have it dry before the viewing, so people don't see my grandma cotton underwear on display in our stairwell.  Or I would at least make sure that I washed only my very best undergarments that day, if they absolutely had to be seen.  But maybe that's just me.

Cooking with Fever

Still sicky poos this morning.  And poor Mr. LaPoo has a different kind of LaPoo Flu (it's in the name if you know what I mean!)

Job hunt continues....woke up yesterday morning to find an email from Totaljobs.co.uk telling me to apply for a manager position at KFC. Awesome. Thanks.

OH and, being the saint that I am, I have been maintaining my domestic goddessness throughout this entire ordeal.  Went to my first bookclub meeting on Monday at my friend Liz's.  We read Water for Elephants by Sarah Gruen. LOVED IT.  And since it's all about the circus in the 1930's, I brought homemade caramel popcorn! Big hit!  AND last night, with a fever mind you, I cooked a delish Bill Granger warm pasta salad with ricotta, cherry tomatoes and bread crumbs WITH baked chicken compliments of my Great Aunt Judy's never fail marinade recipe. TAKE THAT KFC!

SOPHIE SICKY POOS

Let me begin with a big UGHGHGH! Today I am Sophie SICKY Poos and I am feeling terribly sorry for myself! Sore throat, achy all over - what a nightmare! I did manage to leave the flat once though for a quick errand run. I was deeply heartened by the Halloween Spirit around Portobello! Check out the pumpkins above! LOVE IT!

In other LaPoo's News....YESSSS! Parents were in town last week so got in mucho culture and eating. Went to Frieze Art Fair. Have to say I wasn't blown away. However, it did make for excellent people watching. Check out the girl above. Those Lips! Fake? The Fur? Fake again? The pink LV bag. I think we see where this is going. Of course Mr. LaPoo managed to see a real celeb - apparently Jean Paul Gaultier was making the rounds. Figures I wasn't there to snap a pic. Just like last year at Art Basel when Mr. LaPoo almost ran straight into Kirsten Dunst.  TYPICAL!

As far as outstanding meals go....went to Hereford Road one night. Never disappoints. Same with Taqueria on Westbourne Grove. Two words: FISH TACOS. Also had a lovely evening out of the hood at Giovanni's in Covent Garden. Quite a hidden little gem. It was quintessentially Italian in that the service was atrocious, the food was just fine, the waiter managed to recommend a mediocre wine and we still walked out saying what a CHARMING place. Must go back!
